Found in 1992, the Chelsea Ladies FC won promotion from the Southern Division in 2004-05 to the Premier league National Division. They will be travelling north to face City this weekend at Hyde FC. The winner will play either Arsenal or Notts County in the final.
“This is our first Continental Cup semi-final and the manager will want to go all out to make the final,” said midfielder Laura Coombs. “We are all really excited as we have never got out of the group stages before so this is pretty big for us. I’m expecting it to be an even contest and we are playing at their ground so they will have a bit of an advantage.”
“It would be huge for this club to make the final as everyone in the team has come so far and it would really top off a good season. It would also be great for the management because they have worked so hard to help us improve,” she adds.
